If you are planning a vacation in Maryville this spring, there is one event you simply must attend in town. The 2019 Hops for Hope Benefit Event. This is a fundraising event that matches teams from local and national corporations and pairs them up with the local breweries nearby. Their goal – to create an original craft beer that will then be used to raise money for New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center (BCCAC).
What is the New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center?
The BCCAC is an organization formed as a result of the Tennessee Sexual Abuse Law of 1985. Among its members are the Department of Children’s Services, the District Attorney, state and local law enforcement, mental health professionals, and medical care providers. Their appointed task, to investigate and prosecute all cases of child abuse and at the same time provide child victims with access to counseling services.
In 2000 The New Hope Task Force (a group of local volunteers and professionals) found that many of the children involved where severely traumatized further by the system that had been designed to protect them. With this in mind, they set out to create New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center, modeled on the national model of Children’s Advocacy Centers located in Huntsville, Alabama. The center is a private not-for-profit agency devoted to providing interventions that work and the healing a child victim needs.
Hops for Hope – The Main Event
As a not-for-profit, New Hope relies on donations and numerous fundraisers throughout the year to provide the many services they offer. Hops for Hope is an annual event to be held on May 3rd, 2019 at “The Barn at Wildwood Springs” in Maryville, TN. This is the first year Hops for Hope will be held at The Barn.
You are cordially invited to share a relaxing evening with great music from local bands and musicians, mouthwatering foods, and most importantly of all, an incredible selection from the many local breweries and cideries. You can pair the various offerings with the many dishes being served to create your “perfect pair” or simply enjoy sampling a little bit of everything. This year the foods are provided courtesy of Miss Lily’s Café in nearby Townsend where fresh from garden to table is the special of the day, every day.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Silence Please
While the many local and corporate sponsors provide invaluable assistance, each year at Hops for Hope a silent auction is held. You have the chance to bid on a wide array of items. The money raised through this auction goes directly towards helping New Hope provide child victims with the care they need.
Are You Interested in Getting Involved in Hops for Hope?
There are several ways for you to get involved in Hops for Hope. If you are a local brewery, you can sign up to be paired with a local corporate team. If you are a local business, you can sign up to be paired with a brewery. Or you can come join us on May 3rd, 2019 for Hops of Hope and place your silent bid on the item of your choice.
