Dedicated to preserving the region’s unique culture, the Heritage Center celebrates the history of East Tennessee and the Smokies. Learn about the Cherokee Indians and early settler life through three-dimensional displays, interactive exhibits and a historic village of authentic log cabins, barns and a sawmill.
Another great aspect of the Heritage Center is the weekly Sunset Music Series, sponsored by Boyd’s Jig & Reel, held every Friday night throughout the summer. Admission is free with the Heritage Center membership, or only $5 at the door for non-members. Bring your chairs and come out for a great evening of live music under the stars. This summer’s lineup for the Sunset Music Series includes:
- July 12- Sons of Bluegrass- bluegrass
- July 19- Randall Bramblett- Americana singer/songwriter
- July 26- Dando-Dondo ft. Nancy Brennan Strange- old time jazz & stringband
- August 9- The George Harper Band- country, bluegrass, roots music
- August 30- Steve Kaufman- three-time national flat-picking champion
