In the wintertime, we offer classes and workshops featuring instruction in a wide array of crafts and music.

From April through December, visit with local artisans demonstrating, displaying, and selling their work in the Exhibit Room, from paintings and photography, to woodcrafts, basketry, fiber arts, and stained glass.
Throughout the year, the Visitors Center is Festival headquarters:
- Winter Heritage Festival in February
- Smoky Mountain Fiber Arts Festival in March
- Herb and Wildflower Day in April
- Townsend Spring Festival and Old Timers Day in early May
- Trout Fest in mid May
- Smoky Mountain Pottery Festival in early June
- Black Bear Expo, Appalachian Bear Rescue in late June
- Townsend Fall Heritage Festival and Old Timers Day in late September

Stop in at the Visitors Center Store and shop for books, music, t shirts and outdoor gear, toys, and other items related to the Smokies. Ask our knowledgeable staff at the front dest for area information. The store is operated with Great Smoky Mountains Association and purchases benefit the National Park.
