Excellent "wild" trout fishing surround the mountains. The Little River flows peacefully through Townsend offering rainbow and brown trout fishing. The headwaters in the National Park offer some of the finest and most beautiful trout water. Abrams Creek, an excellent fishery, is only 20 minutes from Townsend. Hiking trails afford access to many smaller streams for anglers who prefer solitude. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park gives birth to 750 miles of fishable streams. Rainbow, brown and brook trout are the game species you will find in these clear freestone streams
